Yoga retreat at Explore Gorongosa in October

Sunset at Gorongosa

Explore Gorongosa  is so excited that Jenny van Niekerk (yoga guru supreme, we think!) is going to lead a yoga safari at Explore Gorongosa. When manager Rob and Jos spent just 2 hours with Jenny in class it was inspirational - so 6 whole days...Jenny is planning on spending the retreat days with a mix of perfecting asana's, loads of pranayama, amazing game drives, stunning bush walks and of course, starting and ending each day with some meditation. And all this in beautiful Gorongosa National Park.

The retreat is hosted by Explore Gorongosa- an authentic tented camp in the heart of the park. There is nothing better than waking up in one of our tents with birds tweeting, the sun streaming in with the odd distance lion roaring. You are going to love it. And a new, less stressed, real you is going to emerge.

Dates: 27 October - 1 November 2010

Price: US$1650 per person sharing for the 5 nights.

All inclusive. Includes all yoga & meditation instruction, safaris, all your meals & beverages, park entrance fees. Everything. Only additional extra is getting to Gorongosa National Park.

Yoga retreat Gorongosa

Here is a little brief on the yoga guru: Jenny’s passion for movement, yoga and dance has been a thread running through her life. Whilst studying design in Perth, Australia, she completed her yoga teacher training in 2003 at the Yogic Science Center. After qualifying, Jenny taught at yoga studios and sports clubs around Perth and became involved with a community project introducing yoga into drug rehabilitation centres and female prisons in Western Australia. On returning to Zimbabwe in 2005, she started a small yoga studio and furthered her studies in 2007 qualifying with the International Yoga Alliance completing her 200hr intensive Teacher Training with Africa Yoga in the Eastern Cape. Her and a fellow yogi/ Pilates teacher, united to develop Shivaya Studio, a Yoga and Pilates centre for rehabilitation and wellbeing based in Harare.
She also teaches yoga with the Dance Foundation Company (DFC), a funded program for local artists interested in pursuing dance as a profession. The 3 year course is offered to individuals with dance talent who face difficulty with financing their own education in the arts.
Jenny’s passion and commitment to yoga, as a way of life and healing, inspires others on their own path.
